Week 5 Report - Four games, 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat
Thursday 10th October 2013

With the first team not playing this week due to a few of the players taking part in Tough Mudder, it fell to the other four sides to showcase the club's talent.

Jack Hodson The seconds were looking to bounce back against Old English after last week's loss. Old English had drawn once and lost in a tight encounter in their only two games this season. The seconds started the game strongly and opened the scoring when Pflancer crossed for Alty to fire home at the second attempt. The lead was doubled as Alty headed in a great Peter Riley cross. Lynchy then made it 3 despite Rob Phil managing somehow not to nick it on the line. The second half saw Coeur continue where they had left off Darren made it 4-0 with a fantastic individual goal before Pflancer scored with his left foot. Alty then completed his hat-trick with a dipping shot that made it 6-0. Degsi finished a flowing move with a lofted effort into the top corner, then sub Jack Hodson scored his first Coeur goal with a classy finish after Peter had unselfishly squared it. 8-0 and it could have been many more. The result sees Coeur move up to 4th in the table.

Wayn Hayes The thirds travelled to Aigburth to face perrenial strugglers Liobians. Coeur on the other hand were in good form after 3 straight victories. Chris's men were wasteful in their finishing despite some good build up play. Goals from Wayne Hayes and Mick Lynch gave Coeur a 2 goal lead before Liobians pulled one back making the scoreline far closer than the game had been. Coeur's fourth victory on the trot sees them remain in 2nd in the table

JChadwick The Over 35s faced Alsop at Buckley Hill. Alsop had taken 4 points from their last 2 games after losing the first 2 games of the season. A bit of a tactical switch from Chaddy saw himself and Phil playing at centre half and Cad switched into a midfield role. The change paid dividends as Cad scored his second of the season. The game was finely balanced with the score at 1-1 deep into injury time, sadly for Coeur an Alsop goal with the last kick of the match left them still searching for their first win of the season. John's side remain in 8th after the defeat.

Gary Davies The over 40's made the trip to Kirkdale to play Shakespeare Utd. Shakespeare had beaten De La Salle last time out, while Coeur had lost at Hillfoot. Coeur started brightly in the game and found themselves 2-0 up thanks to goals from Gary Brennan and Gary Davies. An inability to hang on saw Shakespeare pull a goal back before levelling things up at 2-2. The over 40's slip to 9th in the table
