Week 4 Report - A solitary league win and cup woe
Monday 30th September 2013

This week saw the first team in County Cup action against Quarry Bank Old Boys in the LCFA Intermediate Cup, the other four sides were in league action.

Jonno CahilThe firsts travelled to Allerton to face Quarry Bank from the Old Boys division 1. A topsy-turvy game ensued with Coeur taking a 2 goal lead. Quarry Bank responded and levelled at 2-2. Both sides scored again and the game ended 3-3 after 90 minutes. Despite a battling performance Coeur went down in extra time losing 6-4. Jonno Cahill continued his fine form with another 2 goals and Clarky and Rob Sinclair were both on the scoresheet as well.

Ste AltyThe seconds were involved in a local derby against Waterloo. Just five minutes in Ste Alty flicked a header past the keeper only to see it rebound off the post. After this early chance it was Waterloo who controlled the game and Coeur lost both Degsi and Mick Robbo to injury. The second half saw Coeur have a larger portion of the game and they were denied a penalty as a shot was blocked on the line by a Waterloo arm. Jones in goal was the unlikely scorer for Coeur as he drove a free kick home from fully 60 yards. Coeur pressed for an equaliser but both Kelly and Lynch were unable to capatalise on good opportunities to score. The result sees Coeur drop to 5th in the table

Neil OldfieldThe thirds were at home to face Kingsford this week. Chris was absent through wrok, but needn't have worried as his side led 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Oldfield, Lynch and Kinsella. Andy has now scored in all four games this season and his tally is now at 6. The second half didnt offer anymore in the way of goals but for Coeur is was job done anyway. Coeur's third successive victory sees them up to 2nd in the table

Dave SmithThe Over 35s made the long hike to Halewood for their league encounter. The first half was a tight affair with both sides on the scoresheet. After the break it was Halewood who stepped their game up eventually running out 5-2 victors. Dave Smith scored a cracker for Coeur and Williams scored the other . John's side remain in 8th after the defeat.

Ian DeeThe over 40's were at Buckley Hill where they faced Hillfoot Hey. After a reasonable start to the season Deano's men drew a blank for the first time. In quite a lacklustre performance Coeur were outplayed by Hillfoot and were easily beaten 4-0. To compound Coeur's misery Deano missed a penalty as well. The over 40's slip to 7th in the table
