The Sacre Coeur Machine goes rolling along.....

Collegiate 1 v 2 Sacre Coeur

Another good team performance, this time on an away ground in the quarter finals of the Divisional Cup.

It was Collegiate's long punt with big lads winning headers versus Coeur's 'like to get the ball down and play football' approach and on a dusty bobbly pitch Coeur took a while to get started.

However it paid off when a long ball through to Big Dunc was expertly controlled, held up and knocked off to Robbie Boardman who threaded a great ball back to Big Dunc whose first touch and shot beat the Collegiate keeper for one nil. 1-0. Clap

A great run by Jamesy whose shot was deflected back to him and then shot narrowly over.

Dave the Goalie was cautioned after deciding to come out of his box to clear a long through ball but unfortunately taking the Collegiate attacker out first. Ouch

Half Time 1-0.

Coeur tried to start the second half playing football but spent te first ten minutes on the back foot defending long punts into the box. Coeur had a let off when an unmarked striker shot and against the bar and then blasted over when he could have put his side in front.

Coeur were thankful for a tremendous double handed fingertip save onto the post by Dave The Goalie after a great run and strike by Collegiate's left winger.

Unfortunately though 2 minutes later and Dave was picking the ball out of the net after a good strike from the edge of the ball went through a crowd of players into the bottom corner. 1-1 Shocked

The game was end to end as a few half chances were had by both sides. As the game was headed for the dreaded extra-time and penalties (which seems to be the norm these days for Coeur) Coeur won a free kick just outside the box. Robbie Boardman fired it in and the kepper parried it into the path of the onrushing John Carra to notch the winner. 2-1. Big%20smile

Coeur saw out the remaining five minutes to win the game and set up a semi final against Essemay.

A mention to the two centre halves Tbob and Currie who dealt with most of the aerial bombardment. Clap

"It's 'MR' Chairman to you sunshine."
