Sacre Coeur 3 v 5 Old Bootleians.

Unlucky lads.
Did we deserve it or another unlucky game?

How's Gav by the way?

Gav phoned me on Saturday evening from home and said he was feeling much better. I am sure all the lads would join in wishing him a speedy recovery.

On to the less important matter of the game.
The problems with selection have been well commented on this season, and whilst we have had a team out every week, far too often have I had to get lads to play out of position due to having the bare 11. Again this week I was down to a bare bones squad. When you have a squad of 28 players and you can only managed to get 11 or 12 at a time the frustration can be unbearable. As anyone knows the key to a good side is consistency, and lads playing regularly together and understanding each others game. Sadly after only 2 months of the season only 3 lads have been available for every game (and that includes myself!!!!). Options are limited and we are often fielding a side with lads shuffled around and playing where they can 'do a job' rather than having a balanced side and options to change things, both within the starting eleven and from the bench.

Today was another example of that, Liam asked me if we should have won, and the honest answer is no, on the day we were second best. However if the question was could we have won then the answer was most definitely Yes. It is just so disappointing looking to the bench, when trying to change things, only to be faced with crouchy and myself. Even on the pitch we were unable to switch players around to change the shape of the side.

We play them again next week and hopefully we can start to get a settled side and turn around what was a poor performance against an average side.

had a bit of a funny turn before the game, been give the all clear by the doctor.

Again thanks to Si, for making sure I was alright. Hopefully back playing this week, but more likely next week.
