We're going up, we're going up, we are going up...................

Sacre Coeur 2 v 1 Mackets Grenadier

Sacre Coeur needed three points to gain promotion and progress to the Premier Division of the Liverpool County Premier League for the first time in our history, and we got them. Clap

Coeur got off to a great start and had two good chances in the first 4 minutes.

Coeur went 1-0 up after a Big Dunc strike looped up over the keeper to find the back of the net.

After looking across the Civil Service pitches and seeing that REMYCA were drawing with Collegiate it looked like it was going to be a victorious afternoon. When Mackets equalised and REMYCA had scored two goals of their own the black clouds where all around - quite literally.

Until up stepped the glorious left foot of Stuey Aitkin to fire home a free kick to put Coeur ahead. Star

To be fair, Coeur dominated the game but didn't take any more of their numerous chances or get the 'nailed on' penalty awarded.

Dave 'The Goalie' Moran pulled off a wonderous tip around the post to keep Mackets from equalising (with probably their only chance other than the goal). The back four of Mick 'Rocky' Carra (replaced by Stuey Aitkin at half time), John Carra, Tbob and Jamesy were immense throughout behind a midfield of Cooper, Robbie Boardman, Lee Owens and Cherry Bomber. Big Dunc and Robin Miles ran tirelessly upfront to hassle their defence. Ginger and Roachy coming off the bench at crucial times to inject some well needed fresh legs.

As the final whistle blew, the players and line of Sacre Coeur were jubilant just as the players from REMYCA were passing at the end of their game. Some of their players looked (and sounded) absolutely gutted - as we would have been had we not have made it. Bit of a shame that they didn't come up with us as I think Sacre Coeur, Albany and REMYCA deserved promotion this year.

Anyway, for the first time we will find ourselves in the Premier Division.
The table never lies....
