Edge Hill 6 v 2 Sacre Coeur

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear ..............................

It was a sunny afternoon. Black clouds soon descended over the game, but the weather stayed nice though.

The players were warned before the game that if you said anything (and I mean anything - including normal everyday words from the English language) that the ref would start giving things against us. Confused How wrong we were. We didn't have to say anything, he just started to give things against us anyway.

Coeur never got out of the starting blocks and found themselves 1-0 down after only 3 minutes on the clock.

Things went from bad to worse when a second was conceded on 10 minutes.

An attempted tackle by Lee Owens after a foul had been awarded a split second before was deemed to be 'kicking the ball away' by Lee and he was promptly booked. Shocked

Coeur conceded a third just before half time.

H-T 0-3

Cue the fight back (or so we thought).

A 50/50 tackle by Lee was seen as a foul by the referee, to the astonishment of both sides.
Unbelievably the referee decided that Lee had kicked the player off the ball and was awarded a second yellow and walked. As Lee protested his innocence even the Edge Hill player informed the referee that Lee hadn't touched him. Shocked

Anyway, down to ten players, 3 nil down and very frustrated is not how you want things to be when you are trying to build some sort of comeback.

Two goals later and we were five nil down.

John Carra pulled two good goals back - one a control and volley from ten yards out and the other a good header.

Strangely, Coeur were now on top and attacked relentlessly until as Mick Carra put a delightful ball through to the onrushing Cooper (who must have been onside by a least five yards) but the referee decided to give offside.

As the whole of the team and the line howled in disbelief and disgust (as you do Wink ) Mick Carra told the referee that he was a cheat.

Unfortunately, Mick walked. Now we were down to 9 men.

For the last 15 minutes Coeur battled bravely and only conceded one more to end the game 6-2 down.

Well battled lads, chins up and let's go and get promoted. Clap
"It's 'MR' Chairman to you sunshine."
