Sacre Coeur 3 v 0 Alder

A very blustery wind spoilt any decent play but it was Coeur who took the game to Alder. Alder having a few decent players but just couldn't seem to get it going as a team.

Sacre Coeur played with the wind in the first half and it paid dividends early on.
After 5 mins a long free kick from Tbob on  the half way line was carried by the wind and deceived the keeper (as he waved to an imaginary bird in the sky) and dropped in just under the bar. Or was it a shot by Tbob? (CSI are currently investigating the mystery). - Either way Tbob scored. ShockedClap Thumbs%20UpWink 1-0.

After 10 mins a short throw in to Lee Owens saw him turn, beat one man, ghost past another and slot a ball into the path of Ginger who slotted home for 2-0.

Then came the start of the 'Comedy Hour' for the man-in-black (and I don't mean Johnny Cash).

Half an hour gone in the first half and Sacre Coeur totally dominating the play, Alder got the ball into Coeur's box. A superb last ditch slide tackle by John Carra ended the Alder attack but as John lay on the ground with ball trapped under him the referee awarded a penalty. Assuming it was for a dodgy handball decision the line were bemused, later to be informed it was for impeding the ball (even more bizarre).
Anyway, Carra saw yellow (the ref was just getting warmed up) and an Alder player stepped up to take the pen.
He drilled it into the bottom corner but Dave Moran at full stretch kept it out (AGAIN) Star and even managed to gobble up the loose ball - despite being 'studded' in the arm in the process. (Sh*tbag challenge - went unpunished by the referee Angry)

Anyway, back to the game. Following his tremendous save, Dave the Goalie sent the ball on its way upfield where it ended with a run into the box by Robbie Boardman who was upended giving the ref no alternative to award a Coeur penalty. Up stepped Roachy to dispatch it safely into the net for 3-0.

Half Time 3-0 (and cruising).

Coeur started the second half against a powerful wind and knew that defending was the key to wrapping up the game.

A back four of John Carra, Tbob, Stuey and Mick Carra stood firm to whatever Alder had to throw at them, which was mainly hopeful long wind-assisted balls.

Sacre Coeur never really had many attacks apart from a good move down the right and a cross to Ginger who had an easy chance to score but shot over. (oops)

With about 15 minutes left to play the referee got a bit bored and decided that his writing hand needed a little exercise. EmbarrassedAngry

Alder were awarded a free kick following an offside decision and as a spare ball (nike) was kicked onto the pitch (a mitre ball being the match ball) Cherry Bomber duly kicked it off the pitch. The referee then decided he would book Cherry for kicking the ball away. Confused
Despite numerous protests from the Coeur players, the ref then decided he wanted to play the last fifteen minutes with a different ball.

When the ball went out of play Big Dunc duly asked could the ball be swapped for the original match ball - and was booked Confused.

Minutes later Tbob politely asked the referee could the ball be swapped when it went out of play - and was booked Confused.

The game ended 3-0 to Coeur and a lot of angry players who did well not to 'rip off the referees head' (metaphorically speaking of course).

The one truly comedy LOL moment of the game came when the referee got in the way of a Lee Owens midfield tussle with two Alder players and consequently received a kick to the shin. Instead of apologising to Lee and the players for getting in the way of the ball and the players (as any normal human-being would), he decided to stop play and remonstrate with Lee informing him that it hurt because he didn't have shinpads on.

A good team performance all round with some resolute defending when required some good build up play and excellent wing play from the fullbacks and Robbie B and Robin Miles on the flanks, supported by the attacking pair of Ginger and Roachy.

Well played lads. Clap

3rd in the League.
