Now we seem settled in at the Crosby for our post match pint and chips I have been tring to remember which other places we used to return to and what food, if any they provided.

Some obvious ones are the Old Bank (chips, eventually). Though we also used to return there in the late eighties, I think.

The S and S club by Alexandra Park, though I dont remember any food there, just very flat ale and the smell of damp, though thta could have been my kit bag.

The Civil Service. Dead handy after playing up there, no food but great showers! No come to think of it I think they did lay butties on , or maybe I just bought themConfused.

Does anyone also remember that Church Hall in Bootle. I think they had a bowl of scouse for us, though it didnt do much for the drink driving laws.

Can anyone else remember any?

Sorry..... for those young'uns.

St. Marys - not a bad venue - but asked to leave when we started to beat them at footy.
Waterloo Tennis Club - John Sharrock serving behind the bar - never mind Sky Telly - we only just got a reception for the radio.
Campion - still no food - stopped going after it had burnt down.
The Oak - still no food - although I'm sure Dave Kennedy used to go the chippy and buy a few portions of chips. - although a pool table.
The Crosby S&S - snooker, pool and darts, TV (and no-one else) - the only food was when Eileen sold barms for 50p.
Civil Service - BIG TV - chocker with bags - no space - no food.

Nice one Doyley. Yes I had forgotten about The Oak. Wasnt there always a fight about to happen there. It was like the bar in star wars and the locals werent keen on us.

All joking aside.............

As a Club, we must realise that playing for your team is only the half of it. The other half is the social side (and that doesn't always mean parties & pi** ups) - the laugh before the game, the banter afterwards, back at the pub with the lads, seeing how the 'other teams' got on, reminiscing about the old days (mainly Andy)....that is what playing for Sacre Coeur is all about. Personally, I don't give a **** who lost, drew or won on whatever day but as a Club we should expect the majority of lads back at the pub after the games. Angry

Come on lads, make the effort this weekend and get back to the 'Crosby' after the games. (Andy's getting lonely)Clap

I'll get off my soapbox now (although I am allowed a few rants in the year - it's in the constitution) Wink

YES. And they are from the chippy. They also provide sauce as well (Heinz Tommy Ketchup and HP Brown Sauce) none of that horrific cheap and nasty sauce that is often provided with freebie butties.
