I was going to claim MOM for my tactical change at half time but then Stevie Wonder rang me and told me even he knew Richie was playing pants and the change had to be made. Kev came on and changed the game with a wonderful goal and controlled the midfield

Sorry for the delay in the match report everyone but with theEngland job interviews, Barcelona and with constant calls from Abramovich its been a busy few weeks, but ive decided to end it all where its really at, top of the Liverpool Old Boys  fourth division.

Before I start a big get well to Dannys dad who I know reads these, we all hope hes on the mend and sorry you couldnt make the final game but Danny did you proud finally didnt bottle it in a big game, he nearly turned me gay that day!

Well WOW what a way to win the league, I never thought it was going to be an easy game but I thought we would win maybe 2 - 0, but Cirserv on a great run, gave us a massive scare and if they had won then the league would have been theirs.

I was prewarned before the game about a long throw Civserv had which I wasnt aware of, but like any good manager, I decided not to mention it. We started brightly and I felt comfortable we would get a goal but not long into the game a long throw into the box, the fat cat flapped at it like he would a bowl of salad straight to the head of Cirserv players head who headed into an empty net. The good thing being it being so early on in the game I felt we could get back into it.

The wind was blowing across the pitch but it appeared to be effecting us in the first half and despite some good moves we never really looked like scoring and another long throw into the box lead to another mix up to make the score 2 -0.

The first half summed up the defence looked untroubled but conceeded, the midfield offered nothing and the attackers with limited service were toothless.

With Richie having a post birthday stinker, I brought him off at half time and brought on Kev who went into the middle and Lynchy went to the left with Franny come to the right.

The impact of the sub was immediate with Kev early in the second half getting the ball and running at the Cirsev defence, skipping past a couple of tackles before smashing it into the top right hand corner giving the keeper no chance.

The confidence that gave us was evident and we pushed on more and more, with a lost final and another lost league in a one off game that Danny had played in, I called that Danny couldnt do it when we need it. I was secretly hoping he would prove me wrong and that he did, a lofted ball over the top caused the Civserv centre back problems, Danny got goal side before slotting, the ball rolled slowly towards the bottom right hand corner and I was convinced it was hitting the post before it nestled into the corner. CLR I LOVE YOU!

The game was tense and I believed if we needed a third we could have got it but with no draws this season we saw the game out but with one last long throw at the end and the keeper coming up for it my heart was in my mouth, but Dave was immense and never gave them a sniff.

full time 2 -2

Not and ideal way to end the season but to win the league that way afterwards was fantastic, well done to everyone who played their part, so proud of you all and ill miss it im sure when the new season starts but will always burst with proud of managing a team of winners like you lot x

2012 team

FAT CAT - the best keeper ive ever had, MOM against Waterloo this home this year, pulls some amazing saves off, so fat but so good

Gary Bourne - Dazzers all time player been with me since 02/09/06 and I can think over 6 years I can count on one hand the amount of mistakes he has made, fit, strong and reliable sums up Gaz

Chris Lawless - I love the fact that Dave told me he would never make a centre half and got voted players player of the year, fantastic winner, and was key to winning the league this year and will be a great manager next year.

Dave Mortimor -MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR  My first captain to win something, unbelievable player in the air, battles for everything, his first game for me was as a forward on 3rd Feb 2007 in the cup against Kingsford were his header back to the keeper cost us a goal and knocked us out the cup, Gary who brought him down assured me he was a good player before Gary chinned a Kingsford player for fouling Paul May why I ever listened to Gary ill never know! Dave truely deserves to be the captain to pick up the first silverware a true winner.

Rob Phillips - Had a couple of games last season and started this as right back before reverting to left back were I think he has played his best football, Gary solid at right back and Rob pushing forward gave a great balance and I think he has been one of the best players this year for what he offered.

Gav Price - In and out this this season after his early season injury but when called upon never let us down, highlight of the season was lettting in an early goal as keeper when he air kicked a back pass, luckily we we went on to win that game.

Martin Somers - Hard to come back from a break, but when he did never let me down, solid player, his highlight of the year was beating Chris Lawless in the half marathon, Chris you should be ashamed. Joking aside I hope Martin gets back to were he was before his break as he whips in a mean ball and his attitude towards the team was superb.

Rob Cavendish - Another player who has been with me for many years, his first game was for the first St Marys team I set up in 2005, but for this team was 2nd Dec 2006 against Liobhans when we lost 3 -0. Rob is another battling player who gives his all, highlight of the season a sweet left footed curled goal from outside the box against Waterloo to help us win 5 -0.

Fran Pearson - Until this year a regular in the midfield but with work and family commitments was in and out, however finished the season strong, in particular the last game of the season were he never stopped running and working for the team, heres to an even better season next year.

Peter Devlin - A player like Gaz who has been with me since 02/09/06, I cant speak highly enough for this man, his energy and ability is fantastic and I was so lucky to keep him as long as I did, always gave 110% he was fitter, bigger and better than his brother ha. A top fella and im glad I was able to give him a medal before i left as he deserved it so much, thanks Pete.

Mick Lynch - a fanatastic trickster, sweet left peg, and battles to win without giving up, definately one of the reasons we won the league this year highlight of the year introducing the swagbag to a new level

Richie Hughes - Mr hot and cold, when this lad is on fire he is unplayable, but every now and then he plays a game like he has been trained by lee edge all week. But as I say when hes on his game fantastic player pace, power, skill and goals, I have every faith next year he will be even better hightlight of the season, Richmond away great performance plus two sweet strikes home against Old English and Old Xavs away.

Andy Kinsella - Ive named a few new players this year who have added to a quality team and helped win the league, Rob Phillips, Lynchy and more consistant Richie it Andy was the cherry for me, when the rat couldnt score Andy stepped up to the plate time and time again, when he was sent off in his first game I was concerned but he put that behind him and deserves his winners medalbig time. Highlight of the season was a great left footed strike against Colliegate away to put us in the lead.

Danny Pimbley - Not a lot i can say about this fella that hasnt already been said, a fantastic player, who is reliable and boy does he know where the net is. Record goal scorer for the club and for me the best player I ever recruited, when times were dark Dannys presence made other players come down as they all knew they likely to witness some amzing goals and win a game. I was told that Andy Kin and Lynchy were better than Danny but I can truely say he is the best ive ever played with or seen on an amateur pitch! Top player and top man - highlight of the season 4 goals against Waterloo great performance but so many to pick from.

With this team its took 6 years to get to win the league and to say the least its been a journey but one ill never forget, ive had some whoppers along the way, and after losing my first game 7 - 1 its nice to finally end on a high!

Thanks for all the good memories everyone, I will be down next year to see you all top bunch of gentlemen, stick together I want to watch you all play in te first divsion, word to your mother, peace out big D x
