Well I had this one down as a banana skin game, but in fairness we didnt really get troubled, With Andy turning up late I started and we went back to the old 451 with Danny leading the line.
Danny had the best of the chances getting round the back on a couple of occasions one in which he rounded the keeper but his shot at goal had no power and it was easily cleared by the Park defender. Hope Park played one up front who had a bit of pace and stong but the half chances he got were swept up well by Dave and Chris. Gary had a tricky winger to deal with and did well and Cockney Rob did well to push forward and support the attack.
Rob Cav started on the right despite having a sore knee (apparently he hurt it jumping out of bed, quite a height for him) Rob had his best game for a few weeks breaking up play and attacking well even getting the odd shot off!
The breakthough came from a corner, the ball orignally cleared and fell to Cav who did great to get his shot off, Cav thought it was in but I was in a good position to see it hadnt, the ball was cleared as far as Dave who smashed it past a body of players on the line.
We looked solid and continued to work as a unit but just couldnt get the second goal we needed to give us a little bit of insurance.
Half time 0 -1
We continued the second half in the same style Franny battling hard down the left and linking up well with Rob but Danny having no luck in front of goal at the moment, he again got one on one with the keepr but instead of shooting tried to dribble it around him and the keeper did well to smother the ball. Dannys luck was summed up when the keeper punched a clearance,it hit Dannys big nose and over the keeper only for it to be cleared off the line.
I came off for Andy and we went 442 and continued to break well but not making the most of the chances. We got a free kick on the right hand side of the box, Lynchy took it and picked out Andys head who finished superbly from close range.
From this point on we controlled the game and Park were reduced to half chances and poor penalty claims. Danny came close to breaking his bad run of no goals with a close free kick but the rat has completed 3 games without a goal, lucky for us Andy has scored in his last 3 starts.
full time 0 -2
Great result against a team who beat us at home, but it was pleasing that we battled for one another did the task in hand. With a week off followed by the cup then Kingsford, its all hotting up to a possible title decider against Colligate similar to last season, the difference year is the quality we have throughout the team. Well done everyone lets enjoy the final end of the season, ive decided it will be my last so I want to finish with a winners medal before passing it over to Chris we can do it!
