Richie Hughes

A difficult one this week as so many good performances, Richie never stopped running set goals and tonnes of chances and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet

With having to do the rare thing of writing 2 match reports back to back about losses I couldnt bare the thought of writing third and was desperate for win today.

Some changes from last week, Chris back into the starting 11 and put in the back four to help stop the unusual leaks of 9 goals in 2 games. Dave moved into centre mid with Peter with huge boots to fill. With the welcome return of the Franster and Kev Edgar I had the pleasure of having a strong bench.I made up the bench last minute as the fat irish lad turned up at Buckley raring to go only to find out we were in Ainsdale.

Back to winning ways this week and totally deserved in a game we dominated after the first 10 minutes,Dave after spending three weeks moaning at the midfield started moaning at the defence when Richmond started well with a quick number 7 who tested Gary throughout the entire game, but im pleased to say Gary did superb not to give him an inch all afternoon. All though it could have been different if Garys clearance which skimmed our cross bar had gone in. After the a tricky start we began to get a grip of the game Dave and Peter settled in the middle  with Cav and Richie knocking some nice through balls to AK and Dan who are looking more and more like a partnership.

One of the first best chances fell to AK, Danny did great on the right getting some space and with everyone expecting a shot (even their team as they have played against Danny before) he squared the ball to AK who had a tap in for his standard but the keeper did great to recover and somehow keep it out. Leaving AK wondering how on earth...... did Danny pass.

Not long before we broke the deadlock, Richie kept finding tonnes of space and using it well, crossing brillantly and Richmond just couldnt cope with him. Richie done another great run from the left and given the choice of shooting or squaring the ball,he squared the ball to Danny for an easy tap in. The karma of Danny passing finally paying off.

We finished 0 -1 at half time but im not sure how as we played as well as we have so far this season. The midfield competing for everything and the defence looking back to its organised best, with AK chasing everything down he even got Danny doing it and Richmond couldnt settle.

half time 0 - 1

We started the second half like we ended the first, pacey and competitve creating chances, we could have made it 0 -2 before we actually did if it wasnt for another poor performance from the 103 year old ref, who constintly give offside when we were clearly on. Richie played another lovely ball through to Danny who we all know likes to hit them first time or do something spectular this time it came off and as the ball bounced chipped the keeper perfectly, great finish and really took the wind out of Richmond early on in the second half.

Our confidence got better and better and it showed with some of the long shots we were trying, AK with 86 yard effort but ended up hitting my car! And Danny on a hat trick stepped up for a free kick only to sky it and hit my car! At this point I was starting to get paranoid.

15 minutes into the second half, grumpy and happy came off for Kev who went right mid and Fran who went into the unusal role of right back.Little Cav and run himself into the ground and little Gav who had a solid game said his little tweeny weeny hamstring was tight.

We continued to push on and with the fresh legs of the subs we upped the pace causing all sorts of problems even Rob Phillips started coming out from the back again. The final goal came from Kev Edgar who found space in the box but with no space to place his shot cleverly played it agianst the Richmond defender to deflect it past the keeper.

We continued to push forward more and more and Fran got caught out of position leaving the Richmond attacker free to run into the channel Rob Phillips a Chelsea fan after years of watching chopper Harris or could even be Torres after yesterday, took out the Richmond player and was booked for troubles, I think Fran should pay his fine for him as he took him out for you "Bruv"!

Richmond had one more chance inbetween our attacks, the Richmond attacker managed to get a close range shot off which the fat cat managed to get down quickly down to, great save but think it may have caused a small Tsunami somewhere.

Full time 0 - 3

The best we have played so far this season against a decent opposition, everyone giving their all for the cause, the defence looked better well organised by Chris and Rob, the midfield worked their socks off with AK and Danny looking great upfront together, leaves me with the nice headache of which starting 11 for next week, great performance boys it was actually a pleasure to watch.

We keep playing like that and not many teams will be able to cope with us!
