One might suppose that after the disastrous league encounter, when Coeur only fielded nine players, just having a full team would be a victory in itself.
Nine players at 10.45 did not bode well, but eventually a full yeam took yhe field at 2 p.m. Alas within a couple of minutes Coeur had gone behind and soon conceded a second. However, the team rallied well and it was only in the last minute of the first half that a third, decisive goal was scored by Quarry Bank.
Andy Blackburn was injured in the first half and was a virtual passenger throughout the second half. Three quick goals threatened another massive defeat but in the last half hour the team battled well and Gary Brennan continued to inspire his colleagues with a great handling display and Woodall had a goal disallowed and also brought out a great save from the home keeper. Alas, Coeur failed to score but at least left with some pride in place. Maybe next time.
