Gary Bourne

Gary played centre half with Paddy today, both players could have got MOM after a solid performance and a clean sheet, but Gary edged it with a performance in a role he isnt used to playing

Neil Oldfield (GK) 8, Mark Hurst aka Irish lad (RB) 5.5, Gary Bourne (CB) 8, Paddy McKweon (CB) 8, Sean Brannigan aka mini Robbie 6, Kev Lea aka Franster (RM) 7, Darren Hoare (CM) Rob Cavendish (CM) 7, Richie Hughes (LM) 8, Gary Hayles (Gerrard Role) 6, Danny Pimbley (CF) 8

Another fine win for the Couer this week and this time with a clean sheet.
The game started slowly as normal on a muddy Buckley pitch, an early free kick given away by Bourne after covering for Hurst who started particularly slow today. A cross fizzed in was cleared excellently by Bourne with a diving header. Couer begin to impose themselves on the opposition which Pimbley ran down the right and fired in a low cross which Hayles couldnt get to but Hughes managed to get his right foot to slot into a empty net with the keeper stranded. A difficult finish in the conditions gave the Couer the impetus to push on.

The game was more controlled and no real chances for Alsop due to great defending from the back four, Mini Robbie crossed a lovely ball from the left back position from his own half which landed perfectly between Alsops left back and their keeper for Pimbley to nip in round the keeper and slot into an empty net. Robbie Cav did great breaking up the play in the middle today as the ball appeared to bobble more than normal. With Gary Hayles, Hughes and Lea continuing to try and get it down to play.

Devlin replaced Hayles at half time in the same role as Hayles not feeling well

The second half Alsop began to apply pressure more but again great defending  particularly by Bourne and McKweon gave Alsop no option but to do big punts over the top. A few long range efforts were excellently turned around the post by Oldfield as he was on his way to his second clean sheet of the season. Step up Mr Pimbley who in his usual fashion got the ball beat a defender after what Lea said was his "WORST ASSIST EVER" and then rounded the keeper leaving himself at an impossible angle to score and outside the box, but as per normal he rifled in a shot which burst the net (literally) to give Couer a confortable 3 - 0 lead.

Tal replaced mini Rob at left back and had a solid 20 minutes but was injured near the end when he broke his collarbone punching the air when the final whistle came. Lawless replaced Hurst at right back

Alsop continued to plug away and Pimbley and Devlin were put through with two great balls by Hoare for them to fluff their lines. Then came the cherry which goes on top of the icing on the cake. With Lawless coming on at right back he pushed down the right riding a few tackles (not sure whether through more luck than skill) before blasting the ball across the goal which Hoare managed to get his left foot to and put into the net leaving the keeper stranded and desolate that the fat lad had scored.

More chances followed the best being Pimbley rounding the keeper but unbelievably not finishing into an empty net. Devlin got another chance when fed through but chewed on the ball and the defender got back to clear.

But another solid performance by Couer without really getting up to full throttle, no bad performances and well done to the defence in getting another clean sheet
