A solid performance by Kev at right midfield, kept trying to play football and was rewarded with 2 goals, the first being the one which got us back to 3 -2 and push on for the win

TEAM Neil OLDFIELD (GK) Mark HURST aka the irish lad (RB) Gary BOURNE aka the Clarkester and Paddy McKEOWN (CB) Sean BRANNIGAN (LB) Kev LEA aka the Franster (RM) Darren Hoare and Peter Devlin (CM) Rob CAVENDISH (LM) Chris LAWLESS ( The Gerrard role) Danny Pimbley (CF)

Back on track today with a great 5-3 win which doesnt tell half of the story, a steady start by the lads resulted in Peter Devlin putting through Pimbley who went one on one with the keeper before going round him and giving the Couer the lead. The opposition began (to put politely) to wind up the lads which resulted in several stoppages as the ref tried to gain control. Couer lost their way for a bit which resulted in McKeown giving away a free kick on the edge of the box which was placed in the bottom right hand corner (Oldfield stating that it had been bent round the wall well).A rare mistake by Bourne gave the opposition another chance which he dispatched past Oldfield to give them the lead before half time.

Beginning of the second half some nice football played by Couer again which resulted in some half chances in which Pimbley failed to convert, not long after a dubious penalty was awarded to Quarrybank as a 50 50 tackle by McKeown resulted in the ref pointing to the spot.

3 -1 down with 30 minutes remaining, Hoare went off for Hughes to give some extra energy in the midfield, with Hughes going on the left and Cavendish dropping into the middle. The brilliant mangerial decision (to take the fat lad off) worked wonders and the midfield began to over run Quarrybank. A few half chances missed before Lea ran onto a Cavendish header one on one with keeper before heading it past him and slotting nicely with his left.

The momentum was now with Couer and more chances occurred before Richie Hughes pounced on the keeper who hesitated and he blocked his clearance resulting in the ball being left on the floor in front of an open goal. And in what can only be described as a scene from Rocky 2 where Apollo and Rocky are trying to get up at the end, Hughes aka ROCKY got up to slot into an empty net making it 3 -3

Step up Pimbley who had frustrated Devlin in not passing when in the box earlier to win the ball and finish neatly pass the keeper giving us the lead. Hurst was taken off for Hayles who went behind Pimbley and Lawless went centre half and Bourne right back to sure up the defence as Hurst had done well to contain Quarrybanks trickiest player on the left wing all game.

On ninety minutes Lea got his second goal, an excellent cross from the left by Hughes resulted in some poor defending which Lea pounced on and finished nicley to secure all three p;oints.

THe best performance not just because of result or comeback, but because of willingness to get it down and play even when 3 -1 down I have seen for a long time. Lea got MOM but it could have been given to several players, no one had a bad game today and I was particularly proud of us keeping our heads, especially Bourne who kept getting asked if he was gay, but having seen the cut off denim shorts he was wearing today I sort of understand where they were coming from.

Well done boys really top performance
