After a good opening to the game and some malleable defending by Coeur an average Alsop team took the lead only for Coeur to show some determination and claw back a admirable 3-3 draw.
After the obligatory start of season team photo which saw our camera man standing virtually by the halfway line with a mongrel attached to his arm and refusing to utilise the x20 zoom afforded to him by Si's papparazzi style camera, Coeur started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead inside the first 10 minutes. A deft volley from Degsi from the edge of the box which nesstled in the keepers top left hand corner after Alsop struggled to deal with an away-swinging corner from Pablo. This joy was short lived as Coeur somehow managed to gift Alsop a way back into the game. From a throw in the Coeur defence allowed the ball to bounce in and around the area only to see the Alsop forward latch on to it completely unchallenged for him to make it 1-1.
A couple of minutes later Coeur where again undone by poor defending as from a similiar position Alsop launched another long throw into the area only for it to land on the head of their striker to make it 1-2. There where plenty of disagreements but ultimately the scorer was unmarked/unchallenged.
If things could get any worse then it was about to happen. Alsops ageing left midfielder received a quick free kick and from what must have been 40 or 45 yards hit a speculative shot/cross towards the back post, Kev was left stranded as this ended up right in his topleft hand corner to make it 1-3.
Half time Coeur 1 - 3 Alsop
The second half started with Coeur trying to get back in the game and pressing with urgency to do so while Alsop didnt really show much attacking threat probably somewhat believing that the game could have already been won. Coeur did come close to pulling a goal back through Pablo but his left foot volley whistled past the keepers right hand post with him rooted.
Alsop began to push forward a little more and had a couple of half chances which if any one of them was converted would have killed the game, but the game was begining to turn, firstly the Alsop keeper who didnt look like he should have even been playing was alert enough to see a volley from Degsi hit him in the shoulder from close range and go for a corner and minutes later the same was to happen from a John Grego header but this time it hit him full on in the grid somewhat enhancing his boyish good looks.
Coeur where started to get some advantage from throw ins themselves with Tommy Stevo commanding every header he went for and this was to be the way back into game for Coeur. Rob Hatton was finding Tommy with accuracy now and from his flick on the ball was guided home with a header from 4 yards from the unmarked Degsi to make it 2-2.
This seemed to be the way to undo Alsop and Coeur duly obliged with 5 mins remaining, Rob once again found Tommy who was under pressure from 3 Alsop defenders and he still managed to get the flick on but this time it looped over the keeper only for the predatory instincts of Degsi to volley the ball into the roof of the net (he had to make sure)thus getting his hattrick and denying Tommy his first of the season.
Again probably not the prettiest game to watch but some good individual performances,Coeur keep their good start to season going.
Full Time: Coeur 3 - 3 Alsop

And here is the view of the opposition
Another tough match against a strong Sacre Couer side. After going a goal down Alsop pulled a goal back with a good header from P.Smith from a long throw from Hurley.
A Jordan special followed, a sublime shot from just inside Sacre Couers half.
Then Andy McKenna hit a cracking shot into the back of the net.
During the second half Sacre couer piled on he pressure and deservedly pulled two goals back. They could of took the lead but for a great stop from debut goalkeeper Ste Gaunt, even though it was with his face.
Near the end Liam had a chance to sneak the winner, but a penalty area scramble led to a goal kick.
