Speke Vets 4 v 0 Sacre Coeur Vets
No score at half time despite both sides having a couple of chances.
Coeur were suffering from having a few key influential players missing from Tuesday's excellent win.
Speke gained the advantage in the second half with some good football culminating in taking the lead when a cross from the left was turned in by the Speke attacker. Quite fortunate as he was trying to control the ball at the time. But a goal's a goal 1-0.
Ten minutes later and again from a cross from the left, a Speke attacker tried an audacious shot from the edge of the box on the turn, which normally end up in row z, this lobbed the keeper and found the net. 2-0.
Coeur had a couple of chances to bring themselves level but poor finishing left them goal-less.
10 minutes to go and Speke scored two more as Coeur tired and Speke kept playing neat football and looked comfortable on the ball. The third goal was a delightful strike into the top corner and the fourth was a good move through the defence and the attacker stuck a good shot past the keeper.
Some dogged defending throughout the game kept Coeur always in the game before the last ten, namely from Andy Rannard, Dave Looby & Paul Flanagan.
