Sacre Coeur 3 v 0 Kingsley United
Not a game for the neutrals, pundits or football fans expecting the spectacular but a convincing ground-out result which gives Sacre Coeur another 3 points in search of promotion to the Premier Division.
Kingsley lay sixth in the league before this game having previously had good wins against Essemay and Bankfield but having lost twice to league leaders Albany.
A near full squad was available to team managers Derek & Mick Carra with only Big Dunc and Cooper missing. Still only leaving us with two subs on the bench though.
Kingsley started brightly and attacked Coeur from the off but Coeur responded well with a few chances of our own.
11 mins gone and a long ball in from the left eluded everyone and found Roachy on the right who first time cross was headed down by Robbie Boardman to John Carra who's first time shot flashed wide.
A minute later and a good through ball found John Carra who's run and shot was well saved by the keeper.
Coeur were constantly frustrated by the Kingsley defence playing a high line and kept getting caught offside.
38 mins gone and a long ball over the top found John Carra, this time onside, and his good run through on goal was matched by a neat finish 1-0.
41 mins gone and a good move down the left involving Robbie Boardman found the ball fall to Ginger on the edge of the box who sidestepped his man and drilled home for 2-0.
10 minutes into the second half and a forced double substitution was required. Robbie Boardman making way for Robin Miles and James Currie coming on for Cherry Bomber.
The back five of Jamesey, Tbob, Stuey, Mick and Dave the Goalie were playing well at this point and weren't troubled much by Kingsley.
Mid way through the second half and a free kick found Currie in the box who knocked home his first goal for Couer this season and register Coeur's third on the day 3-0.
A well deserved battling 3 points to keep us in touch with the leaders.
