Coeur were looking to extend their excellent start to the season, yet flattered to deceive in this scrappy affair. Corinthian came with an honest approach to the game and proved smart enough to punish Coeur for their sloppy approach in the first 30 minutes.
Coeur did create chances going forward, yet they lacked any of the fluidity that they had produced in their previous performances this season. Corinthian were gifted an early chance when a forward latched onto a poor backpass, but he was unable to steer it past Si Furlong's sizeable bulk and into the net. Coeur responded, and came extremely close to taking the lead when Derrick Burns lifted a sumptous lob over the keeper only to see it rebound back of the crossbar. Corinithian did take the lead a few minutes later and it was, again, curtesy of sloppy passing by Coeur. A casual pass ijust in front of the back four was easily intercepted and the ball slid into the onrushing forward. The forward did well to somehow poke the ball past the combined mass of Andy Rannard and Si Furlong and into the Coeur net.
Coeur improved during the last 15 miuntes of the half and despite not playing anywhere near their best, squared the match up. Darren Carr opened his account for the season with a smart left footed finish from 10 yards out.
Half time 0 - 0.
The second half saw a similar pattern of play to the first with Coeur having the better of the chances, yet again conceding a daft goal. A Corinithian forward was afforded to mouch time and space in the box and he guided a neat header into the bottom corner of the net. Coeur responded immeadiately through Craig Burns who hit a stunning shot from 20 yards that dipped viciously at the end, and underneath the Corinthian bar, much to the annoyance of their otherwise sound keeper.
Coeur, not for the first time this season, saw themselves forced into changes as Rob Philiskirk and Michael Carr were both forced off with injuries. Gav Scott came on along with Paul Morgan, and it was the latter who almost scored a third for Coeur, only for the keeper to grasp the ball at the second attempt.
The match was almost over as Craig Burns was slid in behind the defence, he lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper only to see the ball drift agonisingly wide of the far post. All in all it was a below par perfromance from Coeur, who slip to second in the table on the back of this draw.
